Let me introduce you to the wonderful work of German designer Cordula Kehrer.
I first stumbled across Cordula’s ‘Bow-Bins’ as part of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York during 2011.
In Cordula’s work, old plastic bins are recycled and given a new lease on life – holes are mended and plastic pieces are woven together with wicker, rattan and weed.
The Bow-Bins are crafted with traditional craftspeople in The Phillipines using sustainably harvested rattan and broken plastic bins. The reclaimed plastic bins, alongside the natural rattan creates a bold juxtaposition of materials.
