Experimenting with Weaving

Within one of my previous posts I acknowledged the boredom I have with loom weaving…

Since then my memories on the loom have played over and over in my mind. Some good, some not so good and others just damn frustrating at times. What I’ve been coming back to though is my love for the weaving process, and the power it gives you to play with colour and pattern.

So I’ve invested in a new little toy as pictured above. It is a simple child’s loom, and it’s proving perfect for my temperament and current schedule. It requires basically no time or effort to set up and allows me to focus purely on experimenting and exploring the weaving process.

I recently picked up this neon yellow and blue wool from an op shop for something like 40c, and have been having fun just playing and getting acquainted with the loom again. For now, this size suits me perfectly and I loves that it’s another way I can incorporate found materials into my creative work.
