I am a lover of brooches. I have a grand collection that originated from my grandmother who was a definite lady of her time. She loved to wear a pin on her blouse that complimented and accentuated her outfit. I have to say I don’t wear brooches from my collection enough…
However a few weeks ago I decided I would like to begin wearing my own designs and started experimenting in making brooches to add a pop of colour to my own outfits. Utilising the basketry technique found in my other work I’ve been able to craft brooches in a number of sizes.
And the pictures above show the result! These ‘Natural & Neon’ brooches have been a lot of fun to make and wear. Working with a smaller surface area, I’ve been able to play around with incorporating multiple neon colours which I think works fabulously against the natural cotton of the rope.
A number of these brooches are now available via the Find Your Happy Etsy Store – more here!
